Our stance on artificial intelligence is the utility of such a "beast" that can be tamed for practicality for both the consumer and for commercial use. We aim to be the apex of all things related to computer vision.

Ali Kerrache, Ph.D.

Staff Research Scientist I: Computational Physicist

Dr. Ali Kerrache is a Computational Physicist who recently joined the HL Team to develop the physics aspects behind the PIR: Premier Information Retrieval applications. Dr. Ali studied physics in Algeria and holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Mouloud Mammeri University, Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria and a PhD degree from the University of Angers in France. Ali worked as a teaching assistant, then as a lecturer in Physics for undergraduate and graduate students. Post-PhD, Dr. Ali participated as an integral part of different projects in Germany, Canada, United States and France before joining Hexagon Lavish (HL™) as a Staff Research Scientist I: Computational Physicist.

Ever since his graduation, Dr. Ali was interested in developing and applying simulations to study and understand, at the atomic level, the properties of different materials ranging from simple metallic components to more complex materials such as glasses (silica, silicon), and more recently, glasses with three and five oxides in relation with nuclear waste storage. Dr. Ali developed good skills in developing and using atomistic simulations (Molecular Dynamics, Monte Carlo) to study the static and dynamical properties, mechanical properties, effects of external deformations, irradiation effects, solid-liquid interfaces, composition effects and defects. For developing his research projects, Ali uses different tools and has shown a great interest for programming using advanced languages like C, C++, Fortran and scripting languages.

As a Computational Physicist for Hexagon Lavish® (HL), Dr. Ali is responsible for developing and designing the modeling applications for the PIR project. Dr. Ali will conduct research on numerical analysis and computational algorithms that will model the physics behind the PIR applications. Additionally, Dr. Ali will develop the optimization techniques that will go into PIR software and its related platforms. Dr. Ali will also collaborate with other HL™ members from research and software departments to develop different aspects related to the PIR project. Dr. Ali will collaborate with the biophysicists to develop codes to characterize proteins and develop optimization techniques for accurate data.
